Bookkeeping hourly rates are typically much less than hourly rates for a CPA. For this reason, clients often find it beneficial to engage Abbi to do most of the legwork for their tax preparation at the end of the year, then hire a CPA for an hour to check over the documents and e-file the tax return. This proves to be much more cost effective for the business owner than paying a CPA for several hours of work, and much more efficient than hiring an employee to manage the books all year. It’s a way to cut costs without taking on huge headaches.

There are so many needs in our community, and many community members have some fascinating ideas for addressing these needs. But it’s important for nonprofits to know the laws and to ensure proper management of the funds entrusted to them by donors.
